Zakiganj ((ベンガル語:জকিগঞ্জ) ''Zokigonj'') is an Upazila of Sylhet District in Sylhet Division, Bangladesh. The town is famous in Sylhet, for being the home town of Quari Abdul Latif Chowdhury, the founder of the Latifia Muslim sect movement. It also has a darker history, as Zakiganj was a place where significant ethnic cleansing of the Hindu community occurred in the previous century. Attacks, mass murder, and destruction of property, rape and abduction of women were rife and the prosperous, wel-to-do Hindu community that had been there for millennia were largely wiped or driven out. ==Geography== Zakiganj is located at . It has 29836 units of house hold and total area 287.33 km². It is situated on the north bank of Kushiyara River, opposite Karimganj town of Assam, India. ()
